About Us

Little Cottage - not that 'Little'. Chris and Thérèse have extended the cottage to take advantage of its wonderful position on the edge of Hazeley Heath to the east and the distant views towards Alton to the south. Hazeley Heath is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and SPA (Special Protection Area) because of the rate varieties of birds, insects, butterflies and plants.

Little Cottage is furnished with an interesting mix of antique and classic modern furniture. From the front door you will enter a traditional cottage and go through to a large open plan sitting room, where guests are welcome to sit and relax. Patio doors open on to a large terrace with amazing views and wonderful sunsets in the winter months to the west.

Breakfast is served in the Conservatory/Orangerie beyond the kitchen and we have on two separate years been able to serve our own home grown bananas! We provide locally sourced and organic food as far as possible and grow as much of our own as we can in our vegetable garden.

We can provide evening meals on request but there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby.

Wi-Fi and TV are available in all the bedrooms and there are tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers.

Little Cottage has easy access to the M3 and M4. The nearest train station is Winchfield, and a train to Waterloo takes about an hour. The nearest village is Hartley Wintney (on the A30) and the nearest towns are Basingstoke (about 9 miles), Reading (about 11 miles), Fleet (about 4 miles), Camberley (about 7 miles) and Farnborough (about 8 miles). We are also convenient for Rotherwick, Heckfield, Mattingley, Hook and Eversley. It takes about 45 minutes to Heathrow Airport and about 1 hour to Gatwick Airport.

Environmental Policy

We try to provide as much locally sourced and organic food as is possible. We grow as many vegetables as we can bearing in mind the soil is heathland soil and very poor. We put all our vegetable and waste matter that we can back into the soil and do our best to grow what we can.

We use nearly all low energy lighting and recently installed solar water heating panels in the hope that this will also cut down our carbon footprint.
